Privacy Policy

Prepwell™ ("we", "our", or "the app"), a product of Prepwell Nutrition LLC, is a meal planning and nutrition tracking application. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We believe you have a right to know exactly what happens with your information.

Geographic scope. Prepwell is offered solely to users in the United States. We do not knowingly serve users in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions outside the United States. If you are accessing Prepwell from outside the United States, please discontinue use.

1. Data We Collect

When you use Prepwell, we collect:

  • Account information: Email address and display name via Firebase Authentication (email and password).
  • Profile data: Fitness goals, dietary preferences, allergies, calorie and macro targets, household size, and workout schedule you provide during onboarding.
  • Meal plans and logs: The weekly meal plans we generate for you and any meals you log (food name, macros, timestamps).
  • Weight and body measurements: If you use the optional weight tracking feature, the weight entries you log and the trend we calculate from them (with timestamps). This data is used to show your progress and adjust your nutrition targets, and is never used for advertising.
  • Recipe interactions: Saved recipes, thumbs-up/down votes, and ingredient substitution preferences.
  • Photos: If you use the photo meal logging feature, images are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. We do not store images after processing is complete.
  • Barcode scans: Product barcodes are sent to Open Food Facts for nutritional lookup. No personally identifiable data is included in those requests.
  • Health sync (optional): If you turn on health sync, Prepwell reads recent weight entries from Apple Health or Health Connect and writes your Prepwell weigh-ins back to it. You can turn this off at any time in Profile. We use health data only to show your trend and adjust your targets, never for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties.
  • Website forms: If you leave your email on our website, we store it with the page you were on and the time, to send you the download link and occasional product updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe at prepwellnutrition.com/unsubscribe.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Generate personalized meal plans and shopping lists based on your goals and preferences.
  • Track your nutrition and display daily and weekly progress.
  • Improve recipe recommendations based on your ratings.
  • Send push notifications (meal reminders, plan updates) if you opt in.
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, waitlist updates). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Third-Party Services

Prepwell uses the following services that may process your data under their own privacy policies:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, push notifications, and analytics. Transactional email is sent through Google Workspace.
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google): Crash reporting and stability diagnostics, including device model, OS version, and crash stack traces. Used to identify and fix bugs.
  • Spoonacular API: Recipe search and nutritional data.
  • USDA FoodData Central: Ingredient nutritional data.
  • Anthropic Claude API: Photo meal analysis and ingredient parsing (images are not retained after processing).
  • Open Food Facts: Barcode product lookup.
  • RevenueCat: Subscription and in-app purchase management.
  • Instacart: When you choose to send your shopping list to Instacart, the normalized list of ingredients is transmitted to Instacart's product-matching service to populate your Instacart cart. Your Instacart account credentials are managed by Instacart, not by us.
  • Kroger (Harris Teeter, Ralphs, King Soopers, Fred Meyer, QFC, Smith's, Fry's, Dillons, and other Kroger family banners): When you choose to send your shopping list to a Kroger family store, we authenticate to Kroger using OAuth and add items to your Kroger cart through Kroger's API. Your Kroger account credentials are entered directly with Kroger and are never seen or stored by Prepwell. You can disconnect the integration at any time from your Kroger account.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore with security rules that restrict access to your own account. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We do not store payment information directly. Subscription billing is handled by Apple or Google through their respective app stores.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from inside the app (Profile, then Settings, then Delete account); this takes effect immediately. You can also request deletion at prepwellnutrition.com/delete-account or by contacting us at the email below, and we will complete the deletion within 30 days.

6. Age Requirement and Children's Privacy

Prepwell is intended for users 17 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from individuals under 17.

If you are under 17, please do not use Prepwell or submit any personal information to us. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a user under 17 without verifiable parental or guardian consent, we will delete that information and terminate the associated account as soon as reasonably possible.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 17 has provided personal information to Prepwell, please contact us at privacy@prepwellnutrition.com and we will take prompt steps to delete the information.

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act ("COPPA"), Prepwell does not target users under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also have rights related to data portability or restricting processing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights and we'll respond within 30 days.

8. Cookies and Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive, and which links to the app stores are used. Google Analytics sets cookies on your browser for this purpose. In the app, we use Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used most, common navigation flows, and session frequency. Analytics events are tied to a randomly generated identifier and are not used to build advertising profiles or sold to third parties.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. For significant changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app notification. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
